Hadestown

Hadestown at Tennessee Theatre

Can a song really change a fate? Hadestown intertwines the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice with the story of Hades and Persephone, creating a theatrical experience that grabs hold and refuses to let go. The touring production arrives at Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Saturday, April 24, 2027, at 8:00 PM. If you're drawn to stories that blend old myth with new vision, this eight-time Tony Award winner offers a reason to spend your evening at the theater.

Creator Anaïs Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin built Hadestown around the idea that ancient myths still speak to us. The production won Best Musical at the 2019 Tony Awards and earned the 2020 Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Those honors point to something audiences have responded to: a love story told through music and myth, performed live. Theater becomes the place where you experience both tales at once, rather than choosing one over the other.

Invite someone who appreciates a show that takes risks. A friend who's curious about the production's reputation. A partner who enjoys discovering theater together. The show gives you both something to talk about before the evening begins and a shared memory after the curtain falls. Choose this outing if you're looking for a reason to make plans with someone whose company you value.
