Clyde's

Clyde's at The Jenny Boyd Theatre

Second chances don't announce themselves. They unfold quietly, one decision at a time, in unexpected places. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Lynn Nottage's Clyde's at The Jenny Boyd Theatre in Knoxville on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Follow a group of formerly incarcerated cooks as they rebuild their lives in a roadside sandwich shop, where pride, possibility and hope begin to rise alongside the bread and sauces.

Nottage is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, and Clyde's earned a Tony nomination before becoming one of the most-produced plays in America. Director Katie Lupica leads the production, with a creative team including scenic designer Kristen Martino, costume designer Tori Niemiec and lighting designer Miguel J. Santiago. The appeal rests on Nottage's ability to find humor, soul and resilience in characters fighting to start over under the hard hand of a demanding boss.

A Sunday matinee gives you a reason to share the afternoon with someone whose company you'd enjoy. Invite a friend who appreciates character-driven theater, or a partner who values stories about rebuilding and human possibility. The 100-minute production runs without intermission, making it easier to plan the rest of your day around the theater visit.

Give yourself a reason to step into someone else's struggle and see what emerges. Explore ticket options for Clyde's and plan a Sunday afternoon at The Jenny Boyd Theatre.
