Clyde's
Clyde's at The Jenny Boyd Theatre
A roadside sandwich shop becomes the stage for second chances. Clyde's, Lynn Nottage's Tony-nominated play, comes to The Jenny Boyd Theatre in Knoxville on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Follow a group of formerly incarcerated cooks as they rebuild their lives one sandwich at a time, finding pride and possibility in a kitchen ruled by a hard-handed boss.
Nottage has won two Pulitzer Prizes, and Clyde's quickly became one of the most-produced plays in the country after its premiere. Director Katie Lupica leads the production with a creative team that includes scenic designer Kristen Martino and sound designer Joe Payne. The play runs 100 minutes without intermission, giving you a focused evening of theater that balances humor with the fragile hope of redemption.
The characters’ histories bring weight to the humor. Expect mature themes, discussions of incarceration and past trauma, strong language and workplace conflict. For audiences interested in a candid contemporary play, that is part of the reason to choose it.
Let the promise of a funny, soulful story guide your decision. Explore ticket options for Clyde's in Knoxville and reserve your seats for this contemporary American play.
