Clyde's

Clyde's at The Jenny Boyd Theatre

Second chances don't arrive with fanfare. They show up in a sandwich shop where the bread gets toasted, the sauces get mixed, and people who've made mistakes try to earn back their place in the world. Lynn Nottage's Clyde's comes to The Jenny Boyd Theatre in Knoxville on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 7:30 PM. If you believe people deserve another shot at building something worth keeping, this is a story that speaks to that hope.

Nottage has won two Pulitzer Prizes, and Clyde's became one of the most-produced plays in America after earning a Tony nomination. The appeal is a roadside kitchen where formerly incarcerated cooks face a hard boss and harder odds, yet find pride in the work and possibility in the routine. Director Katie Lupica leads a production that runs 100 minutes with no intermission, giving the story room to build without breaking your evening into pieces.

Bring someone who appreciates theater that asks real questions about forgiveness and resilience. The play contains strong language, mature themes including discussions of incarceration and past trauma, sexual references, and depictions of workplace conflict, so choose your companion with that candor in mind.

Let Nottage's sharp-witted story give you a reason to leave the house. Find ticket options for Clyde's in Knoxville and plan a theater night built on hope, humor, and the fragile work of redemption.
