The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at Tennessee Theatre

Maria chooses to follow her heart rather than remain behind closed convent doors, and the von Trapp family she joins needs more than a governess—they need someone willing to bring music back into their home. The Sound of Music comes to Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Saturday, March 27, 2027, at 2:00 PM. If the story of a spirited nun and seven children has shaped your idea of what a musical can be, this is your chance to see that story performed live.

Rodgers & Hammerstein wrote songs that remain easy to recognize: Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, Edelweiss. Director Jack O'Brien, a three-time Tony Award winner, leads this production. The combination of a familiar score and a romantic tale of resilience gives you something to anticipate beyond simply revisiting a classic. The appeal lies in experiencing those songs in a theater, performed by a cast instead of replayed from memory.

A Saturday matinee gives you flexibility to plan the rest of your day around the show. Bring someone who grew up watching the film, or introduce a younger family member to a musical built on themes they can understand. The afternoon timing makes it easier to gather without rearranging evening plans, and the occasion itself offers a reason to spend time together.

Choose the people you'd like beside you and reserve the afternoon. Explore ticket options for The Sound of Music in Knoxville and make this matinee part of your March plans.
