The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at Tennessee Theatre

Maria von Trapp chooses love over certainty and discovers what happens when you follow your heart past the walls that kept you safe. The Sound of Music returns to Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Friday, March 26, 2027, at 8:00 PM. Rodgers & Hammerstein built this musical around a spirited nun, a family in need of connection, and songs that have stayed with audiences for decades. If those melodies mean something to you, make this your reason to return to the theater.

Director Jack O'Brien, a three-time Tony Award winner, leads this touring production. The score includes Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and Edelweiss—songs that belong to the story and also stand on their own. A live performance gives you the chance to hear those familiar melodies sung in person, supported by the stagecraft that brings Maria's journey to life.

Bring someone who remembers these songs. A parent who introduced you to the musical. A friend whose idea of a good evening includes romance and optimism. Choosing the night together turns a beloved show into a reason to gather, and Tennessee Theatre provides the setting for that occasion.
