The Great Gatsby - Theatrical Production

The Great Gatsby - Theatrical Production at Tennessee Theatre

Jay Gatsby throws parties hoping Daisy Buchanan will notice. Nick Carraway watches his neighbor's wealth fail to buy what it promised. The Great Gatsby arrives at Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Thursday, December 17, 2026, at 7:30 PM. If F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel gave you a story about longing that stayed with you, here's your chance to see that story told through music and live performance.

This Tony Award-winning musical features a book by Kait Kerrigan and a jazz- and pop-influenced score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen. Marc Bruni directs, with choreography by Dominique Kelley. The production brings the Roaring Twenties to the stage through movement, design and song, turning a familiar American tale into theatrical spectacle. For theatergoers drawn to musicals that reinterpret classic literature, the appeal is watching how a new creative team handles a well-known narrative.

This is a night to share with someone who appreciates ambitious storytelling. A friend who reread Gatsby after high school. A partner who enjoys musicals built on recognizable material. Planning the outing together gives you something to look forward to and a reason to claim a Thursday evening before the year ends.
