A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

A miser faces three spirits and one last chance to choose a different life. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Thursday, December 17, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch Ebenezer Scrooge confront the cost of isolation and discover what generosity might still offer him before it's too late.

Director Patrick Lanczki leads the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation, with music by John Tanner woven through the production. The appeal lies in watching a familiar story unfold with live actors, music and theatrical spectacle you can't experience at home. Scrooge's transformation from lonely curmudgeon to open-hearted neighbor gives you something to root for beyond the holiday setting.

Invite someone who'd appreciate an evening that feels like a celebration without demanding a special occasion. A partner who enjoys the theater. A friend whose calendar could use something worth looking forward to. For families considering younger guests, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older, and children under 4 are not permitted. Plan with your own household in mind.

Give yourself a reason to leave the house this December. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and choose an evening at the theater with people you'd like beside you.
