A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage

Can a person really change, or do old habits always win? Ebenezer Scrooge faces that question when three spirits arrive on Christmas Eve to show him his past, his present and the future waiting if he refuses to change course. The Clarence Brown Theatre Company stages Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol at Clarence Brown Theatre - Mainstage in Knoxville on Friday, December 11, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Watch a miser confront what his choices have cost him and decide whether compassion is worth the risk.

Director Patrick Lanczki presents the Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy adaptation, with music by John Tanner. The production brings together theatrical spectacle, humor and the emotional weight of a story built on second chances. The spirits drive the plot, but Scrooge's transformation—or refusal—gives you something beyond seasonal decoration to care about.

This is an occasion to share with the people whose company matters most before December plans fill every date. For families, the production is recommended for ages 4 and older; children under 4 are not permitted. Choose the evening with your own readiness in mind, not someone else's idea of tradition.

Give yourself a reason to gather around a story worth telling. Check ticket options for A Christmas Carol and choose an evening at the theater.
