Knoxville Jazz Orchestra: Jazz Is For Lovers With Carmen Bradford

Knoxville Jazz Orchestra: Jazz Is For Lovers With Carmen Bradford at Bijou Theatre - TN

A voice trained in the Count Basie Orchestra carries different weight than a recording. Carmen Bradford brings Jazz Is For Lovers to Bijou Theatre in Knoxville on Friday, February 12, 2027, at 8:00 PM. Bradford spent years as featured vocalist with Basie's band, learning how to balance precision with feeling. That experience shaped her approach to big band material and her recent tribute to Carmen McRae. If you've been meaning to plan a Valentine's outing with live music at its center, here's your occasion.

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra backs Bradford with the arrangements that give big band jazz its sweep and swing. Her latest album, Carmen Sings Carmen, pays tribute to McRae's catalog, offering a window into the repertoire she might draw from. The appeal isn't guessing the setlist; it's hearing a vocalist who understands the tradition interpret material that rewards careful phrasing. For listeners drawn to classic jazz vocals, that combination offers a reason to attend.

Bring someone whose idea of romance includes shared experience, not just sentiment. A Friday night at the Bijou gives you both a reason to dress up, arrive early, and settle into an evening designed around the music. Whether jazz is already part of your relationship or you're introducing your date to Bradford's voice, choosing the show together makes February 12 something specific to look forward to.
