Knoxville Jazz Orchestra: A Swingin' Christmas With Patrick Bartley

Knoxville Jazz Orchestra: A Swingin' Christmas With Patrick Bartley at Tennessee Theatre

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra takes Christmas music and gives it the swing treatment. A Swingin' Christmas With Patrick Bartley comes to Tennessee Theatre on Friday, December 11, 2026, at 8:00 PM. Holiday favorites get arranged in the style of Duke Ellington and Count Basie, two bandleaders who knew how to make a room feel alive. Saxophone becomes the lead voice when Patrick Bartley joins the orchestra for the evening.

A saxophone in a live setting does something a recording can't quite deliver. You hear breath, timing and decisions made in the moment. Bartley's presence gives the orchestra a different center of gravity, and the arrangements invite you to hear familiar songs through a different lens. If you're drawn to big-band jazz or curious about what swing does to Christmas music, the combination offers a reason to attend.

December is short on evenings that feel like celebrations without obligations. This Friday gives you a reason to gather people who enjoy live music and a chance to close out the week together. Invite someone who appreciates jazz. Bring a partner who'd like a night out that isn't dinner alone. The music gives you something to share, and Tennessee Theatre gives you a space worth walking into.
