Greylan James

Greylan James at Open Chord Music

Some songwriters spend their careers handing hits to other voices. Greylan James has written songs recorded by Kenny Chesney, Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton and more, earning an ACM Award along the way. Now the Knoxville-raised artist brings his own catalog home to Open Chord Music on Thursday, December 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM. If you’ve wanted to see the songwriter in person, this is your chance.

James grew up in Knoxville, playing every kind of show imaginable around town before heading to Nashville. This return puts a local success story in front of a hometown crowd. His songbook includes over 900 million streams and three number-one hits, but the appeal here is simpler: hearing the artist who shaped those songs perform them in a room where his journey began. Water At A Wedding and his debut album give you a sense of what he's built as a solo performer.

His songwriting credits give country listeners a reason to follow his own performing career. Invite someone who appreciates country music with craft behind it, or a friend who likes following an artist before the arenas arrive. A Thursday night in December gives you a reason to make plans without waiting for the weekend.

Bring someone who'd enjoy a Knoxville homecoming with you. Check ticket options for Greylan James and put a night of honest country songwriting on your calendar.
