Ben Folds Five

Ben Folds Five at Tennessee Theatre

Three musicians. One piano. No guitars. Ben Folds Five brings their self-described "punk rock for sissies" to Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville on Monday, April 12, 2027, at 8:00 PM. If you remember the collision of power pop, spaz rock and mischief that made Whatever and Ever Amen a '90s breakthrough, here's your chance to hear that distinctive lineup perform live.

Ben Folds, Robert Sledge and Darren Jessee formed the band in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 1993 and spent the decade proving alternative rock didn't need aggro guitars to make a glorious noise. Their catalog includes Brick, a song that became an unlikely hit, along with AM melodies, pseudo-jazz detours and lyrical mischief that set them apart. Piano, bass and drums delivered the sound. Folds's energy and the trio's willingness to embrace contradiction gave listeners something worth following.

A Monday show at Tennessee Theatre becomes the kind of outing you plan with someone who shares your taste in '90s alternative music. Invite a friend who introduced you to the band, or a partner who appreciates a lineup that refused to follow the usual rock script. The evening gives you a reason to trade the routine for a live performance and a memory you can talk about afterward.

Let your connection to the music decide. Find ticket options for Ben Folds Five in Knoxville and give yourself a Monday night worth the trip.
